Platform One Marketplace Adds TestWheel for Government Software Testing

Testwheel in platform One Marketplace | TestWheel

TestWheel has been assessed as being Awardable on the Platform One (P1) Solutions Marketplace. Their solution video can be viewed on the Platform One Marketplace, and their AI-powered no-code test automation can be purchased via the P1 contract routes. The competition stage has been completed.

TestWheel is now Awardable on the Platform One (P1) Solutions Marketplace. DoW (Department of War) program offices can find TestWheel there and move to a contract via P1’s acquisition pathways. We announced the news on LinkedIn.

Government software testing is one of the primary ways in which DoW teams keep applications secure before release. Our guide to application security testing covers that.

What is the Platform One Marketplace?

The Platform One Marketplace is a DoW buying portal that lists technology that has already passed a formal review. Solutions that pass are marked Awardable. Government buyers can award contracts to them directly.

It’s like a shortlist for the DoW. A program office that needs a test automation tool starts with options that passed review.

Platform One (P1) is the DoW’s DevSecOps program. DevSecOps works on embedding security checks into every step of writing, testing, and releasing software. The marketplace runs under a Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO), which is an open call for commercial technology issued by the Department of the Air Force.

According to P1’s FAQ, anyone with a .gov or .mil email address can log in to search solutions and watch vendor videos.

How P1 Vets a Solution

Every vendor on the Platform One Marketplace has to submit a 5-minute video. A panel of industry, academic, and government subject matter experts scores the video using a published rubric. Only those scoring high enough are considered Awardable.

Each video should address four issues: the problem, which has to fit into one of P1’s Strategic Focus Areas; how the solution works; the likely impact on the DoW; and what sets apart the solution from the competition.

What “Awardable” means for Government Buyers

Awardable means the government can purchase the solution without having to go through a new competition. Typically, prior to a DoW office purchasing software, it has to invite proposals from more than one vendor and evaluate them against each other or prepare a justification for selecting only one vendor.

This can be a lengthy process. P1 already does that work for you. Every Awardable solution defeats a scored review of the other vendors, so you can move directly to a contract with any of them.

Buyers can award through FAR-based contracts, Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements, and other pathways. FAR is the Federal Acquisition Regulation, the standard rulebook for federal purchases. An OTA is a more flexible agreement the DoW uses for prototypes and commercial technology.

In a July 2024 Federal News Network interview, P1 Chief Acquisition Officer Steven Groenheim said the marketplace cuts procurement lead time for source selection from 120 to 160 days down to under 30 days. The buying office still sets up the contract and its funding.

Why TestWheel fits Government Software Testing

TestWheel is a no-code platform for DevSecOps test automation. It covers web, mobile, API, desktop, performance, and security testing, and has already run on DoW and Air Force applications.

No-code Tests That Maintain Themselves

A tester describes a test using plain English.TestWheel generates the corresponding automated steps. If the location of a button or the name of a field changes, self-healing makes sure the test adapts and continues to work correctly.

An AI assistant also helps testers plan and run tests. Most automation tools need code, like a Selenium script in Java or Python. TestWheel’s Carahsoft listing says its short learning curve helps close staffing gaps because manual testers can automate without writing scripts.

A single platform covers a program’s web front end, the APIs behind it, and older desktop apps. See our web application testing page and our guide to API security testing.

A Record on Government Projects

The Air Force’s Integrated Budget Documentation and Execution System (IDECS) generates budget documentation for the White House, Congress, and the DoW.

Because of extensive manual regression cycles (re-checking legacy features with every iteration), the Air Force could only perform high-value regression processes every few weeks. These processes, after automation, take just a few days to complete.

On AFRISS-TF, the Air Force Recruiting Service’s applicant tracking system, regression testing was manual and limited by staffing.

According to TestWheel’s AFRISS-TF case study, a tester on the AFRISS team built a regression suite covering critical workflows that now runs with one click, including logins through CAC authentication.

Built for Secure Environments

TestWheel is listed in Iron Bank, P1’s catalog of hardened software containers that have been scanned and locked down to DoW standards.

Its Carahsoft listing includes dedicated instances, TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, and STIG-compliant hardening.

A STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) is a DoW checklist for hardening software. For DevSecOps testing and automation inside DoW networks, these controls dictate whether a tool can even be deployed.

How to find TestWheel on the Platform One Marketplace

Government users sign in to the Platform One Marketplace with a .gov or .mil email address. Then you find TestWheel’s video and ask us questions on the video page.

Note that your own contracting office handles the award. P1 does not provide contracting support.

  1. Sign in to the Platform One Marketplace.
  2. Search for “TestWheel,” or filter by Strategic Focus Area. [CONFIRM: exact title of the Awardable video]
  3. Watch the video and post questions in its comments. P1 notifies us of each new comment. To see TestWheel on your own application, [book a demo](PLACEHOLDER: demo URL).
  4. Request TestWheel’s Assessment Package from support@p1-marketplace.com, with the subject line “Request for Assessment Package – .” It includes the assessors’ written assessments, scores, and comments.
  5. Bring in your contracting office to choose the pathway and request pricing.
  6. After the award, report it to support@p1-marketplace.com with the subject line “P1SM Award Report,” as P1’s Customer Handbook requires.

FAQs

Awardable means a DoW office can buy the solution without running its own competition, because P1’s scored review already counts as one. Buyers can use FAR-based contracts, OTAs, or other pathways.

No, it means TestWheel is ready to purchase. Each purchasing office will define the requirement and funding. They will also choose the route with their contracting officer.

P1’s FAQ says anyone with a .gov or .mil email address can create an account to search the marketplace and watch solution videos. The videos are not public.

Anyone with a .gov or .mil email can participate in the marketplace. You can also search the marketplace and view solution videos. To view videos, you must log in

TestWheel is an automated no-code testing platform that covers web, mobile, API, desktop, performance, and security testing. You can write your tests in plain English or let the AI create them for you. If there are any changes to a button/field, the self-healing feature automatically updates the test locators and re-runs the test.
